The Street Crimes Unit (SCU) was formed in February 2014 to proactively address street-level criminal activity in the city. The unit is part of the Special Operations Division and has seven investigators. The SCU supports the Uniform Patrol, Criminal Investigations Division, and the Special Investigations Unit. The Street Crimes Unit works closely with the Criminal Intelligence Unit to identify and target crime trends, crime series, profile criminal activity, and problem areas affecting the city. This collaboration with other units and divisions allows the SCU to complete complicated missions, details, and investigations. The SCU focuses primarily on Entering Auto, Burglary, Robbery, and Gang Investigations, as well as executing arrest and search warrants. They also work with the United States Marshal’s Office, as well as other Federal, State, and Local law enforcement agencies.
