The Sandy Springs Police Department is happy to help our residents with a VIN Verification when you want to register a vehicle in the State of Georgia. If you just bought a vehicle that does not have a title, or if you just moved to GA but do not have the correct title for your out-of-state car, you must undergo this VIN inspection procedure in order to register the car and be able to legally drive it in GA.
Undergoing a new vehicle inspection for a VIN confirmation procedure will require you to provide proof of ownership and proof of insurance documents. If you do not have the title of your car, you will be required to offer additional supporting paperwork to prove ownership. Thus, consider bringing any or all of the following documents to your inspection:
- Bill of sale
- Tag and registration details, even if you do not have original copies
- Copy of the current or a previous title
- Any other paperwork that can prove your ownership of the vehicle
Vin Verifications are conducted during normal business hours. If you are unable to bring your vehicle during business hours, you can come to Sandy Springs Police Headquarters and push the callbox outside the main entrance. Inform the dispatcher that you are here for a VIN Verification and an officer will be dispatched.
